organic acai white

found this box of tea in the move.
not really in the mood for setting up the kettle so using bags sounds great.
let's see how it goes.

this tea smells and tastes so familiar and I can't figure out why.
it's so good though!
will def be having this again.  I'm on the verge of tagging this as 'is it tea you're looking for' but will wait for another cup before doing so.

wild sweet orange

this tea seems a little bitter but I'm not sure if it's the tea or just all the sweetened teas I've been drinking today.
the more I drink of it the less jarring it is, so it may just be that the other teas have been much sweeter.

steep time: 5 mins
steep temp: ~ 205º F
added: n/a

earl grey lavender tea

this is an oolong, how interesting

steep time: 4 mins
steep temp: ~195º F
added: 2 perfecteaspoons of rock sugar

english breakfast tea

this is so good!  strong and sweet...  yum~
I had planned on adding half & half but opted against.

steep time: 4 mins
steep temp: ~ 195º F
added: 2 perfecteaspoons of rock sugar

sweet ginger peach tea

it smells really good, if a bit artificial, but I think it could stand to be a bit sweeter.

steep time: 4 mins
steep temp: ~ 190º F
added: 1 perfecteaspoon of rock sugar

golden chamomile herbal tea

I'm super hesitant to try this one but after how good the last one was, here we go!

it smells great!

steep time: 2 mins

wahoo!  last mug of mint medley!
sorry it's a bit darker than usual, I didn't turn on the lights =/

steep time: 2 mins
steep temp: ~ 195º F
added: n/a

white chocolate peppermint

there's no need for desert with this guy around!
so warm and sweet and decadent...  love it!

steep time: 5 mins
steep temp: 205º F
added: 2 perfecteaspoons of rock sugar

mint medley

since I bought the bags of chai pumpkin spice, I hafta make room in the tea bag organizer.
so I'm gonna binge mint medley.
this is one of the teas the bf was trying when he was still looking for a go-to tea.
it's not bad at all, a bit more minty than I prefer, but whatevs.

huang shan mao feng v2

so I added more tea and also increased the temp and steep time.
just look at these leaves!
and the tea had more color this time.  bit more bitter though.

huang shan mao feng

one of my profs gave me some tea he had been gifted by someone who brought it back from china.
my prof dislikes green tea, so jackpot for me.
the leaves are much bigger than what I'm used to, and I think I will use more for the next batch I brew.  and maybe try a higher temp or brew a bit longer - I used the same time/temp I use for jade citrus mint but this guy doesn't have anything but leaves in it (as far as I can tell, anyway).
this tea looks like it would be great to drink grampa style, and I've been thinking about trying teas that I can use with an infuser so big leaves would be great.
dunno how I would get more of this but I'm sure I could find something similar.

jade citrus mint

after that horrid experience I decided to go with something I know and love.
and I do love this tea.
I still check teavana everyday to see if it goes on sale so I can buy another pound.
this is a tea that I have kept on hand since I first started drinking it.
rip jade citrus mint, you are the reason I order from teavana so often.

steep time: 1:30 mins
steep temp: 170 º F

javavana maté

I ended up with about 2 teaspoons left...  clearly not enough for another pot...  so this round of tea is just gonna be especially strong.
I'm focusing on bags that are already open with about 1 pot's worth of tea left.
it's going well, I think.

steep time: 5 mins
steep temp: 205º F
added: 1 perfecteaspoon of rock sugar

edit:
so, I added another couple of spoonfuls of sugar and the tea was still nearly undrinkable.
I've now added a serving of half & half, and another few teaspoons of sugar.

I have to drink tea two cups at a time (my tea maker requires at least 500 ml of water), and I had planned on resteeping this stuff...
but atm I'm considering pouring this cup down the drain, as well as what's still sitting in my kettle.
ew.
of course, this may be because I used too much tea.
so, not blaming the tea.
still not drinking the rest of it.

almond plum perfection

didn't really have enough of this left for a proper pot, but I guess I'll just hafta live with weak tea.
but!  another tea has come and gone.
great progress.

this tea isn't bad.  I mean, I like it well enough.
it was part of a sample pack or something.
don't think I'll buy it again, which is a good thing since teavana is closing.
I'm trying not to get attached to any more of their teas.

vanilla rooibos

so you know how I'd been saving the last serving of this tea?
well, 2 things.
1) I'm celebrating - I got a job.  my previous employer is taking me back.
2) I actually ordered another tin on amazon a couple of weeks ago.

I love this tea ^_^

steep time: 5 mins
steep temp: 205º F
added: 3 heaping perfecteaspoons of rock sugar

I'm also having some cookies left over from a baby shower I attended this weekend.
macarons in raspberry and lemon
a sea shell shaped cookie/muffin thing that's got a hint of lemon
a powdered sugar mound of a cookie
and some other cookie...  with raspberry jam or something?
they're all delicious but I have no idea what they're called!
I def wanna contact the hostess for my next tea party though :x

green tea with mint

I ended up saving the last two bags of green tea with mint to have with the bf.
he declined, so I'm having green tea with mint again today.

fall cleaning

so, the bf bought a light to put under the cabinet where I keep my kettles, and holy shit my kettle looked gross.
honestly I've been meaning to clean it for aaages but I have no idea which box the kitchen scale is in.
I broke down and bought a cheap kitchen scale last night and finally measured out 6 grams of sodium percarbonate and 4 grams of soda ash.
and I cleaned my fucking kettle.
well, ok...  all I really did was boil water, wait a minute, lower the basket, and then dump in the 10 grams of stuff.

anyhow!
before/after:

everything went better than expected~
ok...  not really...  the bf has cleaned my kettle before and so I did expect it to come back like new.
there are still some deposits of something on the bottom of the kettle, and I meant to buy vinegar last night but for whatever reason I marked it off my list without actually putting any in my cart.
still, this looks soo much better ^_^

if I can have 3 more cups of green tea with mint,
we'll be out of green tea with mint.
it's gotta happen, especially since I just replaced the green tea with mint cubby with sweet dreams ^_^

strawberry guava

I love guavas.
I have discovered, however, that I dislike guava tea.
unfortunately, I bought several guava teas back before I knew this.
as far as guava teas go, this one is actually really good.
but with all the other options out there,  I don't think I'd buy it again.
